Happy New Year! As one of my “resolutions” I am going to focus more on posting often; even if it means I don’t write anything. Writing is one of the many reasons why I seldom post. As you can tell from Monday’s post, I feel I can still give you quite a bit of inspiration without saying a word, by posting different ways to wear a piece from your closet or otherwise.
I actually have a ton of fun putting those Polyvore sets together! I used to make them in Photoshop, but editorializing and masking pieces directly from websites is so time consuming, which then again, keeps me from posting more outfits! I have a few older sets over on my Polyvore if you want to check them out here.
I am so excited to show you how to layer a sequin top. I love sequins and feel that they should not be sitting pretty in the closet only to come out on special occasions. I have many times worn my fave J. Crew striped sequin top to work and also on the weekends incorporating more casual pieces like you see in this post.
I know sequins can be a little over the top and maybe you’re a little more conservative, but seriously. Throw on some denim or khakis and the flash will be toned down AND you will get more wear out of your beloved sequins!
The outfit I’m pictured in can also be a perfect work ensemble if you switch out the destroyed denim for a rinse style that is more work appropriate. I also loved playing around with my button down shirt by buttoning that top button – something I NEVER do – one, because I have a linebacker neck and two, I am carrying several LBs and thought it may not be too flattering, but I ended up loving it!
You should always experiment and try something new. You may be pleasantly surprised!
